A Deadbeat Spawned Grand Bay Life
How December's Amazon pick inspired a new perspective on the world
There’s a new DEADBEAT stalking the streets. Peyton Collard wants to tell you the story of the murders he committed and how he solved them.
My 15th novel, DEADBEAT, was published today. Publishers Weekly called it a ‘superlative thriller’ and I’m too humble to disagree with such a prestigious publication. It’s also an Amazon.com pick of the month.
Pick up a copy of DEADBEAT today:
To mark the arrival of DEADBEAT, a book about hitting rock bottom, I launched Grand Bay Life, a YouTube channel aimed at making people’s lives better by answering three questions:
1. What is Mauritius?
2. How can I be a better creative?
3. How can I become healthier?
People often ask me why we moved to Mauritius and what’s so special about the place, so after 3 years of answering the question, I thought it would be easier to show rather than tell. If you want sun, sand, culture and color during the dark winter months, keep watching.
I believe creativity is an essential human function. It’s not just about writing, filmmaking or being an artist. Creating can take place in any field. There are creative engineers, mathematicians, lawyers. Creatives are people who see what exists and find new forms of expression or ways to improve and innovate. I’ve spent a great deal of time studying creativity, working with other creatives and developing my own projects, so I have some thoughts…
Health. Pah! What is a body to a writer but a lump of flesh connected to a brain and some fingers. Writing is notoriously sedentary - unless you’re sufficiently wise to use a walking desk - but it’s not just writers. Much of modern life is lived without movement. I used to play sports at a high level and our youngest son is on a sporting journey that has given access to some elite coaches. Talking to them about sports psychology and the tools and techniques athletes use has opened my eyes to the intersection between creativity, sports and health.
Part travel, part lifestyle, part health, stay tuned as I show you around Mauritius and talk about ways people can make their lives better. I might even bring on a guest or two. Check out the first episode here:
White Fire, the third book in my Scott Pearce series, is a Kindle Monthly Deal and is available for 99p in the UK, so if you haven’t read it, don’t miss this opportunity to download it for a super low price.
Thanks for reading. As we head into the festive season, I wish you and yours the very best,
Adam
