Prescience, action, and escapism
Red Wolves, the second Scott Pearce thriller, anticipated some of the events unfolding around us.
China’s potential role in the US synthetic opioid crisis is in the news again with a crackdown on Chinese firms that might be associated with the supply of fentanyl into America.
I’d heard rumours about this from intelligence sources for years and used it as the backdrop to my thriller RED WOLVES, which explores the idea of a subversive group with links to China using an enhanced version of fentanyl to impact the stability of the United States.
The book looks prescient now, given what we’re learning about the ways in which these drugs are being used to harm the health, social fabric, and economic wellbeing of a nation.
If you’re interested in thrillers that explore the world around us, check out the Scott Pearce series, which starts with BLACK 13, a book that looks at the rise of far-right politics and how they infiltrate the mainstream. The third book in the series, WHITE FIRE, examines how people with the best intentions can be subverted by those who want to exploit hot topic issues to further their own agenda.
If you prefer your thrillers to come with less of the socio-political and a high dose of intrigue, action, and adventure, try the PRIVATE books I’ve co-written with James Patterson. The latest, PRIVATE ROME is reviewed here.
And if you want a mind-bending, emotional story that’s pure escapism, try THE OTHER SIDE OF NIGHT, one of the New York Times best thrillers of 2022.
Stay tuned for more book and screen news coming very soon.
Until then, wishing you and yours the very best,
Adam
